The Australian Professional Teachers Association (APTA) would like to invite you to attend the P2L: Powerful Professional Learning Conference.

The conference will be held on Tuesday, 28 September, 2010 at the Sydney Masonic Centre, Goulburn Street, Sydney.

The conference will explore elements of professional learning including; applying knowledge of ethnicity, class and culture to narrow the learning gap; look at ways to enhance teaching quality for student learning: leveraging technology as a resource for professional learning and will explore advocacy and policy for professional learning.

International speaker, Dr. Dennis Sparks will provide the keynote address and will contribute to panel discussions throughout the day.

Dr Sparks assists leaders and school leadership teams in developing their capacity to continuously improve teaching and learning in all classrooms. He is emeritus executive director of the National Staff Development Council (USA). He is the author of Leading for Results, published by Corwin Press and NSDC (2007) and Designing Powerful Professional Development for Teachers and Principals (NSDC, 2002);. His newest book, Leadership 180: Daily Meditations for School Leaders, was published by Solution Tree Press in April 2010.

Feature speakers include Professor Barry McGaw (Chair, ACARA), Dr Ben Jensen (Program Director, School Education, Grattan Institute), Patrick Lee (Chief Executive, NSW Institute of Teachers) and Susan Mann (Chief Executive Officer, Education Services Australia), who will present, explore and discuss professional learning and teaching quality.
