SchoolAid: Indigenous Literacy Campaign

SchoolAid has a wonderful new suite of free teaching resources to support teachers in their values education as well as connect, through the existing curriculum, to their fundraising and community activity.

ILC LogoWe recently launched our Indigenous Literacy Campaign and are urging schools to get on board by sharing books and bringing in a gold coin - there are a set of teaching resources specifically aligned to this campaign so teachers can seamlessly integrate their practical action into their classroom learning.

These resources are another way that SchoolAid sets itself apart from the numerous other non-profit organisations approaching schools for support. We actually want to add value to the teaching experience when it comes to teaching values. So we make this easy, and practical with our projects giving kids a chance to walk their values talk.

Supporting letter:

I’d like to bring to your attention a fantastic new offering from SchoolAid, proudly supported by the Telstra Foundation

SchoolAid has engaged Macquarie University’s Institute for Early Childhood experts to develop a suite of free resources to support your curriculum delivery to lower, middle and upper primary students. I urge you to take advantage of these wonderful resources that will support you to seamlessly integrate your values teaching and fundraising activity into your planned classroom teaching.

SchoolAid has recently launched an Indigenous Literacy Campaign in support of the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation’s Indigenous literacy programs.  In addition to a generic set of resources titled “Springboards to Philanthropy”, SchoolAid also offer a set of resources tailored to Indigenous issues and literacy.

These resources allow you to meaningfully engage your students with the issues of Indigenous literacy, social responsibility and values education within your existing curriculum. The “Springboards to Philanthropy: Literacy in Rural and Remote Communities” resource covers the following topics, each with their own touch-points to the curriculum:
