APPA President Norm Hart said that the $41.2 million digital curriculum package is an important step in helping teachers comprehensively teach the new curriculum in this new age of learning.
“Today’s announcement is an exciting step forward in resourcing our teachers to implement the new Australian Curriculum. The digital curriculum package will give every primary school in Australia access to high quality digital resources in all subject areas rolled out under the curriculum. The professional learning program will allow teachers to exchange information and ideas about the Curriculum as well as explore online learning. Ensuring our nation’s teachers develop the right know-how is essential for the Australian Curriculum’s future.”
Mr Hart said while today’s announcement of additional resources and support for teachers with their professional development is a very welcome first step, it will need to continue to be developed and built upon to ensure students around the country get the best teaching possible.
“These announcements are a real recognition of the need to appropriately resource our teaching workforce across each of the key curriculum areas. Today is an important down payment and we look forward to working with the Government to establish ongoing support for this important initiative”.
Mr Hart also said that Education Services Australia will be an important driver in resourcing the rollout of the curriculum and building the expertise of our teachers through professional learning and curriculum support.
