BUILDING STRONG FOUNDATIONS

Before and After School Care – once an afterthought – is now impacting education policy and playing an important role in our schools.

It will be a major focus of Education Departments, Principals and Business Managers over the coming year as the new National Quality Framework is implemented.

Australia’s education system is experiencing the largest education reform in decades, perhaps ever.

As the Federal Government attempts to navigate political, social, environmental and curriculum differences to nationalise the system it must also take into account the changing demographics and needs of Australian families.

Leading before and after school care provider and Australian Primary Principals Association Partner, Camp Australia has welcomed the reform.

Camp Australia Directors, Anthony and Andrew Phillips said the new National Quality Framework would ensure Australian families had access to before and after school care kids need and deserve.

“Just as a building is only as solid as the bricks and mortar that slot together to build it, the same can be said of our education system”, Anthony said.

“Research shows that access to high quality education and care services provide children with a better start and improve their chances of being successful later in life”

“We are building foundation for children’s future achievements.”

The new National Quality Framework has regulated before and after school care services for the first time in some States. It has set out almost 80 new ‘Quality areas, standards, and elements’.  These include ratios, qualifications, environment and reporting.

Andrew advised Principals to take advantage of the framework and utilise it as an opportunity to expand the educational experience offered at the school.

“We partner with schools, adopting school values and building on the school curriculum”, Andrew said.

“Each program is devised in line with the Framework and tailored to the local school community. It is open to input at any time, we partner closely with the school for the benefit of the community.”

Both Anthony and Andrew believe the Framework’s implementation is an asset to school communities.
