MSP Photography / APPA International Travel Award

Established by the Australian Primary Principals Association (APPA) and MSP Photography, a Gold Business Partner with APPA, the MSP Photography / APPA $10,000 International Travel Award aims to give an APPA member the opportunity to undertake a personal professional learning experience of their choice.

The 2011 International Travel Award was be presented at the APPA Conference in Adelaide from 22 – 24 June 2011. Click here to read about the award winner, Leonie Jones from the Northern Territory, and the project that she will undertake later this year in northern Canada.

The award is open to principals, deputy principals, etc of primary schools (Government, Catholic or Independent) in Australia who are members of their State / Territory Association.

Applicants will be expected to identify their area of personal learning and why, include expected outcomes and advise the destination and time of year for travel. 

The successful applicant/s will link either with one of the following international associations (or a country of their choice):

  • National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) – United Kingdom
  • New Zealand Principals’ Federation (NZPF)
  • Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC)
  • National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) – United States

It is expected that a report will be presented to APPA two months after returning.  The winner/s may also be required to conduct a workshop at APPA’s 2012 Trans Tasman Conference in Melbourne from 19 – 21 September.

2009 MSP Photography / APPA Research Award

The winner was Rensche Diggeden, Head of Primary at the Peter Moyes Anglican Community School in Western Australia. Read about the topic of her research here.

 

2008 MSP Photography / APPA Research Award

The 2008 award went to Brendan Spillane and Hamish Valentine (WA). It was the first time that two principals submitted a joint application, and both did an internship on Instructional Leadership at the Ontario Institute for Educational Studies.  

 

2007 MSP Photography / APPA Research Award

Judy Scotney, Principal of Everton Park State School, Queensland, was awarded the $10,000 Research Award for 2007.
