Research into the Effectiveness of School Partnership

Partnership Working: Research into the Effectiveness of School Partnership - "The notion of partnership working has been largely initiated as a response to adversity. However, this does not and indeed should not need to be the case. This research sets out to reflect the positive benefits of working in partnership with the aim of evidencing that all schools can benefit from collaboration. The information in the research was gained through a comprehensive questionnaire and informal dialogue with 11 of the 15 Norfolk partnership headteachers. There are more partnerships planned within Norfolk, some initiated and driven by schools and governing bodies themselves or by the local authority. All existing and planned partnerships operate with local authority support. The partnerships are all first or primary schools whose number on roll varied from 33 to 166. The distances between each school in a partnership varied between two to seven miles. By definition a partnership is two or more schools being led by one headteacher, where each school retains its own governing body and individual characteristics. One of the 11 researched has evolved to become a fully federated partnership, although this is not a
preconceived aim for all."
