Mawson Lakes School ... 10 Years in the Making

Mawson Lakes School ... 10 Years in the Making - "Sharing the history and development of Mawson Lakes School ... As spoken by Founding Principal Alan Peucker... Over the next few months the history of Mawson Lakes School will be told through a five part series on the Mawson Lakes Community Website.  The history of the school is quite an amazing story and should be shared across the community.  The first part of the journey will be to give a brief snapshot of its first 10 years. Mawson Lakes School opened on 30 January, 2000, the same year that the Sydney Olympic Games were held.  The opening of the school was quite unusual because new schools usually don’t open their doors until there is a critical mass of students in the community (200 – 300 students).  In Mawson Lakes School’s case however, it opened with only 53 students and 8 staff. The other significant fact in its opening was that the school opened in refurbished office spaces of Building P on the Mawson Lakes Campus of the University of South Australia (UniSA)."
