Water Quality Project, Apollo Parkways Primary School, Victoria - "The Water Quality Project began in 2003 @ Apollo Parkways Primary School. Throughout all of this work, our main focus is the platypus. Several platypus used to inhabit our testing area, until the start of 2003 when they disappeared.

"This has involved more research into what platypus need in their environment; the plants they need, as well as the places they like to burrow and their food requirements. Healesville Sanctuary and Waterwatch Victoria have been assisting us with this study. After we had a clearer idea of the habitat needs of the platypus, students began replanting some areas of the Plenty River to improve the habitat, with the help of the Nillumbik Council and Melbourne Water."
