CSIRO has developed a teacher-led vegetable education program for Australian Primary Schools. The curriculum-friendly teaching program is designed to build children’s vegetable enjoyment and willingness to try vegetables, through hands-on classroom activities, teaching children sensory science (e.g. taste), vegetable production and cultural diversity.
Units of work are cross-curricular and align closely to science, health and physical education, English and mathematics. Lesson plans with worksheets and background information, and interactive whiteboard support are provided. The program has been approved by the South Australian Department for Education and will be evaluated via online survey.
